Rocky Hill Fire Department Volunteer Spotlight: Zach Zorochin

Zach Zorochin’s enriched familial history in the fire service dates back hundreds of years. Zach began paving the way for his own unique path into fire service as a junior firefighter in 2003.

“I have a lot of family in the fire department, five-generations worth. Since becoming a junior firefighter in 2003, I have worked in emergency services for over 20 years now, and it is a part of my calling,” said Zach.

Prior to joining the Rocky Hill Fire Department, Zach volunteered with a different department, but says that Rocky Hill’s unique atmosphere and preeminent training goes above and beyond.

“There’s a lot of camaraderie here, and we take training very seriously. You can never have enough training, and we train five to six times a month so that we can progress as a department,” said Zach.

He encourages those interested in volunteering to give Rocky Hill Fire Department a try. Training and gear are provided at no cost, and seasoned volunteers such as Zach will lend a helping hand to new members as they learn the ropes of volunteer firefighting.

“There are a lot of welcoming people here at the fire department that will never leave your side,” said Zach.
